Cast Iron Grilling Grate

Today I want to share a grill accessory that I picked up at Home Depot. Pictured above is a solid cast iron sear grate. The purpose of this grill grate is to draw the heat from your fire and concentrate it onto the sear grids. This is non stick, however I did season it in the oven for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees and then coated it with a non stick spray as it cooled.

Besides quickly searing meats, you can flip this over for smaller grill marks if you wish. The reverse side has grids that are similar in width to the average chrome plated grill rack. The grilling marks this device leaves on your food are absolutely fantastic.

The price of this was kind of high in my mind, however this is solid cast iron and will be around for quite some time. Before tax it was $27.80.  I plan to use it on just about every grilling session.  Keep your eye out for it, as I'm sure it'll be showing up in a lot more pictures.
